Positive Thinking

Hilary Weeks came and did a fireside in Lehi earlier this year for the youth.  I wasn't able to go, but one of the other women in Young Women's picked up an extra handout for me.  From what I heard, Hillary Weeks talked about the power of positive thinking.  She gave out a handout called "The Power of Our Thoughts."  Its also one of the things that I have posted in my shower and that I read or listen to daily.  (I recorded all the thoughts I have on my shower because with a busy toddler sometimes it's easier to listen to them while we play.)  Anyway, I absolutely love it.  So if you have a chance to go to one of Hillary Weeks' firesides - do it.  I know I will the next time there is one in our area.

The Power of Our Thoughts

Our thoughts affect our mood.
Our thoughts affect our health.
Our thoughts affect what we believe.
Our thoughts affect what we will accomplish.

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind.  To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again.  To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives."  -Henry David Thoreau

"To a great extent we accomplish what we think about.  Your thoughts, more than anything else, will be the determining factor in what you accomplish during your life." - Grant Von Harrison

"We don't always get to choose our thoughts, but we do get to control them."

"We become what we want to be, by consistently being what we want to become."

"Thought and character are one."  - James Allen

"The greatest mystery a man ever learned, is how to control the human mind, and bring every faculty and power of the same in subjection to Jesus Christ.  That is the greatest mystery we have to learn while in these tabernacles of clay." - Brigham Young

"Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not." - D&C 6:36

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are hones, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things,"  - Philippians 4:8

"...Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly..."  - D&C 121:45

"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee."
      - Proverbs 23:7

Thank you, Hillary, for sharing such amazing quotes.  They have changed my life and the way I think. Thanks for listening to the Spirit.
